ABOUT ME

Matt Maclean


Matt MacLean, started his journey in the fitness industry working at a gym in his home town of Bonnyville at age 16. He moved to Edmonton right after high school to pursue his future fitness career. Matt graduated from the NAIT Personal Fitness Trainer program in 2005 and started his official career as a trainer in his last semester. Matt has now done well over 16,000 personal training sessions and specializes in Functional Fitness including years of experience in Crossfit, Weightlifting, Powerliftering, Crossfit Gymnastics and Bodybuilding. His training style reflects this by combining a vast variety of fitness modalities with the absolute goal in mind being optimization of overall physical attributes and abilities such as Strength, Power, Endurance, Balance, Coordination, Mobility and Durability.

Matt has a beautiful young family who also share his passion for fitness with their oldest son in Hockey, Soccer and Jujitsu and his little sister soon to start.

Although often overlooked training partners can be one of the most important elements to successfully getting in the best shape of your life. Whether you're just after overall health and fitness or training specifically to be elite in your sport or niche.

Fortitude Competitors Programming (Online)

 

Intelligent periodized online programming that involves both the movements that are necessary to compete in Crossfit and the functional movements necessary to build a resilient, well rounded, athletic, high functioning body. All done through the online software Fitbot. Members will be sent their digital program online and be added to a private Facebook group. Within the group members can post videos, ask questions, compare results, and schedule training partners to take on the programming together. A community of support creates a fail proof environment. The online programs are equipped with video exercise tutorials specific to your program, metric's to tack your progress, software including a calendar for planning, nutrition log, progress picture upload, and much more.  The program is broken up in 6 week blocks and on a 14 day movement specific rotation. The Powerlifting and Weightlifting are percentage based and peaks every 6 weeks followed by a deload week. Sprinting and plyometrics/jumping are programmed every week. Gymnastic work is structured to insure balance and technical improvement in all movements throughout the cycle. The conditioning and Metcon's are structured in a way that allows you to hit different energy systems evenly throughout each cycle, ranging from 1 min Max effort anaerobic work to 30+ min aerobic work.

As a former Hockey player with a promising future, sudden injury sidelined me and my window had passed. Over the next few years my fitness level was on a steady decline.
